Anadolu Efes became the first Turkish company to sign CEO Water Mandate
Anadolu Efes signed the CEO Water Mandate, an initiative developed as part of the United Nations Global Compact (UNGC) to unite the leaders of business world in order to create sustainable solutions for the increasingly important water issue.
Anadolu Efes targets reducing water consumption per production by 35% in 2015 compared to 2008 and reinforces its sector-leading, sustainable water policies and practices through a global level commitment by joining the supporters of UNGC initiative, the CEO Water Mandate.
CEO Water Mandate was developed as an initiative of UNGC by the global business world leaders in order to tackle the global water problem through multi-stakeholder initiatives. Anadolu Efes became the first Turkish company that joined to the CEO Water Mandate parties.
CEO Water Mandate parties are expected to make commitments for water managements, report their water management performances as required by the principle of transparency and be a party to the UNGC. Already fulfilling all these requirements, Anadolu Efes as a stakeholder of this significant international initiative on water, will be supporting the simultaneous global water protection policies with its company commitments.

Stating that Anadolu Efes demonstrates a global approach to sustainability management with its wide operating geography and breweries in Turkey, Russia, Ukraine, Moldova, Georgia and Kazakhstan; Anadolu Efes CEO Damian Gammell said: ““We aim to secure the future of water resources as our main ingredient and as one of the basic needs of the society, through efficiency programs. In 2013, we reduced our water consumption per production compared to the 2008 base year, achieving a 19% decrease in beer production and a 25% decrease in malt production. Overall, we achieved over 450.000 m3 water saving with our efficiency and recovery works undertaken in 2013. We are now ready to support water protection policies implemented simultaneously on a global scale with our business commitments.”
Committed on water protection policies, Anadolu Efes currently aims to;
• reduce water consumption and waste water discharge amounts per production by 35% as of 2015 compared to 2008;
• report water management performance periodically;
• work in collaboration with local and global initiatives for the protection of water resources.
